Brief summary of the project.

go greenThe oil industry is a complex industry which has to do with many factors that pose risks to human life and has a large negative impact on the environment itself and the people who work and live in the oil-gas bearing areas.
Albania is one of the largest mainland areas with considerable oil content in the range of 430 million tons (conservative estimate) .This area oilfield (and gas) is stretched between Fier and Mallakastrës. For years, the natural resources in these areas are used responsibly and rarely even irresponsible times.

Using somewhat barbaric and benefit purposes has caused no small problem in the area in question. Many of the existing wells are in bad condition and have often caused natural disasters in their location
Which is the primary problem in this area prescribed norms pollution of air, soil and water. The presence in an area so vast wells drilling and horizontal drilling methods, so close to residential areas have often caused problems in homes and health, social and physical development, residents of the area.

Leakage of oil or gas that have been uncontrolled or that result from defects of the various flow piping network collection and transport and construction, leak the gorges of production wells, removal and disposal uncontrolled sand out of cleaning wells with the so-called tractor cleaning, constitute a detriment to the environment, damage that that was inherited one might even say until today where many wells there are remnants of such sand or waste oil crude in pits near wells working with Wulff etc. .

Removal of gudron acid in the river Gjanica from plant oil processing in Fier, the discharge of industrial waste plant for the Deep Oil Ballsh etc. have been and remain a problem to be solved and simultaneously considering new investments that will have oil industry in our country in these directions.

Community in most cases is not involved at all in the decision, and has not benefited at all from the natural resources extracted from beneath their feet. In addition the community has suffered a further rate increase allowed the dangerous elements present in air, soil and water. These dangerous element, which in one way or another reach through the food chain to the locals, perhaps further, causing a variety of diseases of the blood and other identified as possible caused by environmental pollution (by studying the international) .

In the area where the activity the company Bankers Petroleum has concerns from residents because occasionally feel the bump which have brought and damage to housing and other property of residents. At the same time these phenomena are very harmful and in view of psychological terror that arise to residents expectation cyclical these phenomena, which it is known that the vibrations of the earth are terrorizing and extremely dangerous to human life but also for the different properties that possess people in places where they occur.

Problems arising from the application of modern technologies in the fields using old or even sell gas-content which is currently talk of a boom in discovered gas reserves, free reserves this computable, have become very worrisome worldwide. There is much literature and concrete facts to argue the issues that bring these technologies such as horizontal drilling from one side (especially in the use of formations sandy without cemented and diesel viscous as some horizons spring of Marinez as Driza and Gorani, where the use of is realized their deep depressions) and hydraulic or explosions and the strained fluid injection (water layer separated by decantation oil in plants) in the coating, on the other.

Also another major problem that affects all residents of the area is the presence of the oil refinery in Ballsh. This refinery which has a outdated technology and a waste treatment system extremely inconvenient, also causes environmental problems, which are carried to the Adriatic Sea through river Gjanica Seman, and further spillage into the sea.

Concession companies that work and will work in the future should be controlled and supervised by a rigorous prevention of all processes that take place in the oil and gas industry which will considered “high risk” in pollution regardless of the current and expected level of technical and technological achievements. It should be understood as in all areas in this industry, prevention is far less costly than avoiding phenomena occurring after the damages.

All this problem needs an observation / study of the current situation and a substantial improvement of the legal framework in order community in decision making, and return to the real value of national residents.

3The conference aimed to exchange opinions and ideas on the development of the industry over the years of oil extraction and processing in the study area Ballsh – Patos – Marinez

For this reason we tried to engage all interested actors to be aware of the need for cooperation, in the context of a study integrated and thorough analysis of the security situation, a study which the conclusions of its own will be able to determine primarily the state of security, elements that influence to it, factors like population, civil society, legislature, government agencies, national bodies or international organizations that can and should contribute commensurate opportunities and competencies for people in order to improve the situation study of living in the area to ensure sustainable development that unequivocally affects national security.

To achieve this comprehensive study SHVZHS engaged and will engage experts and professionals, with titles and degrees in their respective fields that affects study and presented found understanding of all stakeholders involved in this study.

The initiative, which was presented at the conference in order to determine and improve the situation in the area, indelibly linked with national security, taking into account the state of the environment, the welfare of the community, natural resources and their use in the areas of oil-gas-holder .

This conference was simply the introduction of the initiative. But because of the time it did just a few of the main pillars of the problem, which is much broader and more disturbing. This obviously affects the local community and beyond, influencing affected the socio-economic range of strategic national development.

Problems remain but not regional, but much more, it is national. This concern is not he but those people who suffer this reality, but it is a bill that just like today and in the future, will pay the entire society and the Albanian state. Based on the outline or draft project ideas to SHVZHS extensive study, we aim to improve the situation in the area, and it can be said that the greatest strength of this association is the only initiative.
But, of course, this initiative, although it is a very positive energy to move forward, is insufficient to further concrete developments.
The level of involvement in this study is intended to be undertaken very extensive and unique.

Thanks to volunteer work groups established by the receipt of confirmations is powered and construction work plans with the academic world, institutions and organizations. We have brought together actors who can carry out this study to expand on the aggravated situation.

Our work will not stop with this conference although money will continue to level heavy stands in which degraded situations. Normal development of life in the mentioned area will come only if clearly addressed the problems of neglected and forgotten.
